Insights into the past, present and future of Theater Aachen

The Aachen Theatre was officially opened on May 15, 1825: The history of this new cultural venue began with Ludwig Spohr's "Jessonda" as the first opera and the play "Romeo and Juliet" by Shakespeare.

"Bravo! Bravissimo! 200 years of Theater Aachen" invites all visitors to discover the theater from a new perspective. Many historical moments are prepared and presented in an entertaining way with exhibits and documents or as videos and audio samples. Immerse yourself in the thoughts of important personalities, such as Ferdinand Ries, the conductor and director of the first Lower Rhine Music Festival in Aachen. The exhibition offers an insight into 200 years of Aachen's theater history and plays with different time periods.
