What will the weather be like tomorrow? The weather column in Aachen has the answer.
180 light tubes in three different colours are inserted into the ball and shaft in such a way that when darkness falls, they display the weather for the next day. The column was built on commission for the city of Aachen in 1956, and is based on a New York design. It lights up along its 40 metre height, and is often mistaken for a monument or work of art.
