Stefan Draschan. 11 seconds
As part of the photography festival of the StädteRegion Aachen
Stefan Draschan (*1979) is a master of the visual symbiosis between people and art. In his fascinating photographs, he combines people with masterpieces from European museums, whose clothing, gestures or hairstyles harmonize in an astonishing way. With his "People Matching Artworks" series, which has become internationally renowned on social networks, he discovers matching pairs of images, merging the past and present and thus completely redefining what it means to see and be seen. Irony always plays an important role in his photographs. Draschan emphasizes that pure chance is his muse, which plays to him in the fleeting moment. His sense for the decisive moment - the moment décisif, an expression coined by Henri Cartier-Bresson - makes his photographs as unique as the average time he has to take a picture: 11 seconds.
