Grace, strength, elegance—since ancient times, horses have held a fascinating allure for humanity, whether as majestic companions, hunting partners, or faithful companions. Particularly during the Baroque period and in the 19th century, the horse, its temperament, and its speed and strength were celebrated in numerous depictions. To mark the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, the Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum is therefore presenting a major exhibition that can be seen as a tribute to the horse in the visual arts.
