Global Aachen – Economic Ties (only in German)

Discover interesting facts about the economic ties that Aachen has maintained since the Stone Age along well-known and lesser known places in the city centre. Due to advances in production technology, energy supply and transport conditions, but also due to the dynamic political landscape, these developed into global interdependencies. From flint mining in the Neolithic Age to trade relations with the Middle East in the Carolingian period and cloth production – economic co-operation has existed at all times. Today, the universities with their international contacts and research results are at the focus of globalisation.
