POI
Ponttor

The Ponttor stands at the end of the popular student district and is a landmark of the city's history.
Surrounded by the city wall, you used to only get into the center of Aachen via one of the eleven city gates, the Ponttor and the Marschiertor were two of them. The western north gate from the 14th century has been preserved to this day with its outer and main castle. It's worth taking a short walk there, especially in the evening, when the lighting illuminates the Ponttor in a special light.
