St. Jacob

With a height of 87 meters, the Church of St. Jakob has the highest church tower in Aachen.
As St. James' Church, it is the first stop on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela after Aachen Cathedral. According to legend, Charlemagne founded the church after he returned from liberating St. James's Tomb. It is therefore considered the first German St. James' Church. However, its foundation dates back to the 13th century. The church tower can be climbed twice a year, from which you have a wonderful view over Aachen.
