St. John Baptist

The Church of St. Johann-Baptist is the most important baroque building between Maas and Lower Rhine.
In 1751 the former church of the Burtscheid Abbey was rebuilt according to plans by the Aachen master builder Johann Josef Couven. Based on the Aachen Cathedral, the former Abbey Church has an impressive octagon and its own abbey. Over 700 years old treasures can be visited here. Today St. Johann-Baptist is one of the two Catholic parishes in the heart of Burtscheid.
