New presentation of the medieval section
A permanent exhibition in the Suermondt-Ludwig Museum
Life, commerce, saints. Angels, heavenly and earthly music, the Mother of God through the ages, the veneration of the Christ child, images and relics as well as the so-called active images, which appeared particularly lively through their inclusion in certain rituals, are themes that influenced the life and thinking of people in the Middle Ages illustrate. A church interior as an important center in medieval city life is also being reconstructed. In addition, economic-historical aspects are addressed. An exciting tour introduces you to the medieval imagery in all its diversity.
