The origin of everything
»Alleman / Everyman« by Freek Mariën (German by Christine Bais):
Imagine: Your neighbor suddenly discovers a spring on his property. He fills the water into bottles and puts a price tag on it. And after a while, not a drop of water comes out of your tap. You're thirsty - while he's splashing around with rubber ducks in his bathtub. Alleman touches on the rules of our coexistence in a linguistically playful and absurd way.
“Monding / Mündung” by Anna Carlier (German by Christine Bais):
In “Mündung” three wild salmon begin the migration of their lives: through the open sea back to their birthplace, over thousands of kilometers full of dangers. Reproducing there is their final and only goal. An animal piece about human existence, tiredness and the desire to let go, about senseless determination and single-minded meaninglessness.
»Mater« by Femke Van der Steen (German by Lisa Mensing):
In five stories, eight women navigate through history and the present while imagining an alternative future. They explore both their own fears and society's fears of the feminine, the "natural" and the chaotic.
