"Orphée aux Enfers - Orpheus in the underworld"

Opéra-Bouffon in two files by Jacques Offenbach, text by Hector Crémieux and Ludovic Halévy
One of the great myth travesties between heaven and hell: Jacques Offenbach used the myth of the musician Orpheus, who wants to free his beloved Eurydike from the underworld, for his narrative of dangerous love loose and tangible marriage problems - carried out under the watchful eyes of "public opinion" and under Participation of the divine staff. The gött from heaven and hell is right to approach Eurydike. This pursues their own passions and the plan of public opinion that they are reunited with the husband.
Jacques Offenbach created a lustful satire on the decadent, over-saturated society of its time, which only the famous Hell-Galopp »Can Can« tears out of lethargy for a short time. Director Michiel Dijkema, who brought Rossini's "Il Viaggio a Reims" in the past season "as an extremely enjoyable Buffo Opera evening" (Aachener Zeitung), returned to the Theater Aachen with Offenbach's funeral masterpiece.
