Permanent exhibition in the Stained Glass Museum

A representative overview of the history of stained glass
Using historical copies from the 19th century, both the content-formal and technical development from the beginnings in the Middle Ages to the present are shown. Famous artists of the Renaissance such as Albrecht Dürer, Hans Holbein the Elder provided models for stained glass. Ä. and Hans Baldung Grien. The focus of the collection is on glass paintings from the 20th and 21st centuries. The representation of classical modernism (first half of the 20th century) in stained glass is particularly highlighted with works by Johan Thorn Prikker, Heinrich Campendonk, Anton Wendling, Georg Meistermann, Wilhelm Teuwen, Wilhelm Buschulte, Joachim Klos, Jochem Poensgen, Ludwig Schaffrath, Johannes Schreiter and Hubert Spierling are comprehensively and comprehensively presented.
