Rune Mields. Infinite space – expands

Exhibition in the Ludwig Forum
With The Infinite Space – Expands, the Ludwig Forum presents the work of the Cologne-based artist Rune Mields (*1935 in Münster), who was active in Aachen between 1965 and 1970. During this time she was not only a central player in the legendary art association Gegenverkehr - Center for Current Art. V., the group of works known as “tube pictures” was also created in her Aachen studio at the time: large-format, drawing-based paintings of sculpturally fully formed cylinders, cones and surfaces, on which she worked for several years since 1968 and by which Peter and Irene Ludwig No. 26 in 1970 . In conjunction with a selection of her prime number and tangent paintings from subsequent years, the exhibition presents an artistic treatment of “infinite spaces” that has been ongoing for over five decades in an examination of systems, theories and phenomena from mathematics, geometry, physics, philosophy and other sciences , which began in Aachen. Since then, Mield's work has been guided by the interest in giving systems and structures of a mathematical and political nature a physical presence. She examines and visualizes these organizational concepts, which often appear hidden, and transforms them into the form of painting.
