Plan a visit

A chicken was stolen at the Aachen chicken market! Or was it a rooster after all?

The Chicken Thief is a fountain monument and depicts the moment the boy is caught stealing. Instead of a chicken, he caught a rooster and when it starts to crow, the theft is noticed. In 1913, the then mayor of Aachen, Philipp Veltmann, acquired the figure made by the sculptor Herrmann Joachim Pagels at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition.
