The people of Aachen greet with the Klenkes, as the monument reminds us of.
People from Aachen greet each other in the distance with the Klenkes, the spread-out little index finger. The origin of this identifying feature lies in the needle industry, where bad needles were usjected (unlatched) with the little finger. So the little finger became Klenkes.
