The idea of ​​organizing a festival of classical music in the Val-Dieu Abbey came in 1966 on the occasion of an art exhibition. This first cultural event, which was immediately a success, inspired the organizers to organize an annual music event that began on May 27, 1967 with the Alarius ensemble and his baroque repertoire.
From the beginning, well -known musicians such as the brothers Kuijken and the harpsichordist Robert Kohnen with all my heart campaigned for the quality of the guided tour . The festival immediately enjoyed a name and fame among the big music events.
