New year, new resolutions – January is often used to pause , look back and set new goals . We, the girls from the marketing department, have also thought about personal resolutions that we would like to implement in 2025.

Be inspired by our goals and discover with us how we want to make the new year more mindful , active and enjoyable - step by step, moment by moment, always with a touch of the Aachen attitude to life .

A break from everyday life on the Vennbahnweg

As a village child, forests and fresh air always part of my happiness . I need at least half an hour in nature every day to breathe deeply and clear my head - but it's sometimes difficult to combine that with the busy everyday life.

My perfect solution, which I discovered in the fall and which I in 2025 : cycling to work . via the Vennbahnweg in just under an hour. On the way: forest, fields, viaducts and tree-lined ravines far away from car traffic.

The tranquility of nature, the wind in your face, the first rays of sunshine in the morning – all of this makes this route more than just a route to work.

More time for me

What I want from myself in the new year is definitely more “me time” . Consciously taking time for myself – for body and mind .

There is always something to discover when browsing through the Mayersche bookstore in a cozy atmosphere inspiration in the travel and games section and enjoy a drink in the café on the upper floor. I could stay there for hours and forget everything around me for a while !

Learn to appreciate the little things

With the  new beginning of a year you create space - for new plans, wishes and promises to yourself. This year, however, everything is a little different for me. I have been living in Sardinia since November last year and have already experienced many culinary highlights. But the “German potato” in me misses one thing in particular: typical Aachen bakeries .

Yes, I know - it's complaining at a high level, but who doesn't love the smell of  freshly baked rolls and bread ? Münsterplatz or in the Elisengarten with a good filter coffee and a sandwich and watch people go about their everyday lives. Then making the decision between Printen and crumble rolls as a small, sweet snack afterwards - for me that is the little luxury that I will definitely treat myself to on the next trip home.

's  why my New Year's resolution very clear: Appreciate little things in everyday life , because you only notice that something is missing when it's no longer there.

Walking through everyday life

This year I have decided to walk more in our beautiful city again.

My daily commute is ideal for this: 35 minutes in the morning, 35 minutes in the afternoon - right through the middle of Aachen, regardless of wind and weather. This way I can draw new energy , clear my head and develop new creative ideas .

My route takes me through some beautiful corners: past the town hall and cathedral , over the Katschhof to the Elisenbrunnen , and further along the theater to the beautiful Frankenberg quarter . There is always a lot to discover along the way!

These moments enrich my everyday life and I look forward to experiencing Aachen again and again in this way.

Get out into nature

This year I want more  nature , more exercise , more mindfulness . Last summer I noticed how good it was for me to sit in the city park and enjoy the sunshine. I want to experience exactly that feeling again this year.

Until summer returns, I want to incorporate regular  walks into my routine. These are particularly nice on the Lousberg with my part-time dog Moe.

The location of our office makes it easy for me to take my lunch break outside. My daily matcha tastes twice as good when I enjoy it on the town hall steps with a view of our beautiful cathedral . In summer, the Elisengarten my favorite – a green oasis in the middle of the city. And so that my love of books isn't neglected, I like to listen to an audio book.
