Blausteinsee: A diverse landscape offering both tranquility and nature experiences
Blausteinsee demonstrates how a landscape can transform. Where open-pit mining once dominated the landscape, a tranquil lake now stretches out, its water blending seamlessly into the surrounding area. Walking paths lead you through a green belt where open shoreline areas alternate with small secluded spots. The vastness of the water has a calming effect and leaves room to reflect on the history of the place, as the lake was formed in the pit left behind by the former Zukunft open-pit mine and was flooded starting in the mid-1990s. Today, people come here seeking peace and quiet, observing nature, or simply letting their gaze wander over the gently rippling surface.
