Lous in Aachen
Probably the best known is the legend of the devil and the market woman. After the people of Aachen tricked the devil out of a human soul, he swore revenge and wanted to bury the cathedral under North Sea sand. When he was close to Aachen with the heavy sandbag, he came across a market woman.
She recognized him and assured him with her worn-out shoes that it was still a long way to Aachen. Frustrated and exhausted, the devil left the North Sea sand behind and abandoned his plan to destroy the cathedral. From then on, the woman was referred to as "lous", which means clever. The North Sea sand left behind is now the city's local mountain and is called "Lousberg". Rumor has it that the devil is once again targeting the cathedral. Will you manage to stand in his way and save Aachen?
