The thermal baths were built between 1998 and 2001, continuing a tradition that dates back to ancient times.Following extensive renovation, restoration, and revitalization between 2020 and 2022, the Carolus Thermen now shine in new splendor and once again invite visitors to relax. Warm, sulfur-rich water has always flowed from numerous underground springs in the city, and it is said to have a soothing effect. The Romans already made use of Aachen’s springs, thereby establishing a bathing culture that lives on to this day.
