Plan a visit

The Aachen Cathedral Treasury houses one of the largest church treasures north of the Alps.

Shrines and works of art that are among the greatest and most sublime in Western Christendom are still kept in the treasury of Aachen Cathedral today. Thanks above all to its function as a coronation church, St. Mary's Cathedral has an impressive collection of precious works of art that attract around 100,000 visitors to the treasury every year. The collection includes numerous sacred gold and silversmith works such as chalices, reliquaries and altar retables. Late antique objects and those from the Carolingian, Ottonian, Hohenstaufen and Gothic periods cover around 600 m² and bear witness to the liturgical practice and conception of power of the time.
