Neumarkt
Neumarkt – the heart of Aachen’s trendy Frankenberg neighborhood
Neumarkt is one of Aachen’s oldest squares and was first mentioned as a hub of daily life as early as the 13th century. For a long time, it served as a market for fruits and vegetables, a gathering place where people from the surrounding area came together to exchange news. Today, the square has been given a fresh new look following a comprehensive renovation in 2017. Its open layout, small eateries, and a popular play area make it a place where you can relax and soak up the city life. A weekly market is held here regularly, carrying the square’s historical use into the present and further enhancing its lively atmosphere. Between old structures and new urban culture, a space emerges that makes tradition tangible without remaining stuck in the past.
