Roskapellchen
Roskapellchen Aachen – a small chapel with a quiet presence
Located between Rosstraße and St. Jakob Church stands the Roskapellchen, an 18th-century Baroque gem. The chapel was built in 1758 and stands on the site of an older wayside shrine where a statue of the Virgin Mary from the early 16th century was once venerated. Today, the Roskapellchen serves as a peaceful retreat in the heart of the neighborhood. When you stand in front of it, the simple façade catches your eye, yet it exudes a warm aura. Once a year, the chapel takes center stage during the Streuengelchenfest, when a local tradition delights children with sweets. In this way, the place is linked to memories shared by many people in Aachen.
