Lousberg Water Tower: A viewpoint overlooking the city and the hills
The Belvedere Water Tower, a striking reinforced concrete structure designed by Wilhelm K. Fischer, has stood on the Lousberg plateau since the 1950s. Its clean lines still serve as a serene focal point against the gentle contours of the hill. The tower speaks to both technical modernity and the long history of the Lousberg as Aachen’s vantage point and recreational area. When you reach the top, a sweeping view of the city and countryside opens up, making the special character of this place palpable. Today, the tower is privately owned and serves a variety of purposes, making this historic structure a vibrant part of modern Aachen.
