The infatuated Nemorino loves Adina. Hopelessly. Because she only seems to have eyes for the boastful Belcore. And Adina would rather live free and unattached anyway. A magic cure is needed to make the other person fall in love. How convenient that the miracle doctor Dulcamara has a cure for everything and tricks Nemorino into buying a love potion for his already tight budget. As it turns out, it's just an ordinary red wine.
And Adina is rather irritated by the tipsy Nemorino, bursting with self-confidence. More love potion should finally bind her to him. But Adina has long since figured Nemorino out and knows a better way...
