Plan a visit

A 20-minute walk from downtown to one of the surrounding green spaces, along comfortable, attractive, and accessible paths: that is the goal of the 10 premium walking trails.

During the EMW, city employees will walk with you along Premium Walking Trail No. 3 and explain what the Premium Walking Trail concept is all about, what quality features will define a Premium Walking Trail in the future, and how the expansion is progressing.
Premium Walking Trail No. 3—Frankenberger Park / Kult(ur)viertel—leads from the historic Old Town to the Frankenberger district, tracing a path from historical cultural landmarks to today’s trendy cultural quarter.
The trail begins on the edge of the Pfalz district, with the cathedral behind you. Along Hārtmann- and Wirichsborngardstraße, you’ll find a variety of small specialty shops and galleries, local delicacies, and offerings from around the world.
At Henger Herrjotts Fott square, you can view the crucifixion group by Bonifatius Stirnberg. The name of the square and the sculpture traces back to a wooden mission cross that was erected at this site in 1792. Then as now, it marked the transition from the historic spa district to the residential neighborhoods. After a short climb up Schildstraße and a few meters along Harscampstraße, you reach Lothringerstraße.
Lothringerstraße crosses the Alleenring and leads to Oppenhoffallee, the main thoroughfare of the Frankenberg neighborhood. Lothringerstraße itself is home to many small and larger restaurants and pubs, as well as cultural institutions and small shops. The street exudes genuine “
” neighborhood charm, which continues throughout the rest of the Frankenberg neighborhood. A detour into the side streets along the Premiumweg is therefore highly recommended.
The final stretch of the Premiumweg itself leads along Schlossstraße to Frankenberger Park at the foot of the old Frankenburg. The park is particularly popular with students and young families in the summer.
