Traces of History: Historical Finds at Theaterplatz
Theaterplatz Aachen: A Place in Transition
In the 13th century, two monastery complexes were built in the area now occupied by the theater and its surrounding buildings. Remains of these structures were uncovered last year. Since January 2025, underground pipes and sewers have been undergoing renovation. In the process, surprising archaeological finds have come to light. Graves, wall remnants, and everyday objects tell the story of the site and the people who lived here over the centuries.
The archaeological work, including some of the original finds, will be featured in an exhibition at the Planbar, Theaterplatz 7, starting April 29.
