Let the city's architecture tell you the story of Aachen.

Discover Aachen’s history from the Middle Ages to the present day through its architecture! This walking tour focuses on the city’s diverse architecture—from famous landmarks like the cathedral and city hall to interesting churches, historic factories, and charming townhouses.

See for yourself on the "Archit(o)ur" tour that our favorite city is shaped by far more than just its medieval layout. Every era has left its mark on Aachen, and today’s cityscape is characterized by a variety of architectural styles. Gain a deeper insight into the region’s characteristic architectural styles and marvel at the works of famous architects. Embark on a journey through more than 1,200 years of urban development—from Aachen Cathedral, one of the best-preserved structures from the Carolingian era, to buildings in the Prussian Classicist style such as the theater and the Elisenbrunnen, all the way to the Couven Museum or the Baroque St. Anne’s Church, whose extension was designed by Johann Joseph Couven.
