The Acropolis of Aachen: Columns that Tell the Story of a Lost Belvedere
On Lousberg, you’ll come across a small colonnade that evokes times gone by. The antique-looking columns are the last remnants of the Belvedere garden restaurant, which was a popular gathering place until its destruction during World War II. Today, they stand alone amidst the greenery, lending the place an almost unexpected air of lightness. As you walk through the rows of these stone fragments, you can sense something of the atmosphere that once drew guests here. The quiet presence of the columns leaves room for your own thoughts and makes the Lousberg a place where past and present flow into one another.
