Former Burtscheid Town Hall: a Neoclassical building in the historic spa district
In the spa district of Burtscheid stands a building that offers a glimpse into the town’s early history. The former town hall was completed in 1824 by master builder Wilhelm Christian Ulich and is one of the few examples of Classicist spa architecture in the district. Its clean-lined façade evokes a time when Burtscheid, as an independent town, had its own municipal facilities. Today, a retailer occupies the historic rooms, yet the building’s character remains palpable. Standing in front of it, one can still sense the significance the building once held for public life and how deeply it has accompanied Burtscheid’s transformation.
