Aachen Congress Monument – A Stone Memorial in the City Park
Nestled among the old trees in the City Park, the Congress Monument stands as a silent echo of a time when Aachen briefly took center stage in Europe. Following the 1818 Congress of Peace, attended by the King of Prussia, the Tsar of Russia, and the Emperor of Austria, it was erected on Adalbertsteinweg in 1822. Later, the monument was moved to the Stadtgarten, where its stone presence today creates a quiet link between the past and the present. Standing in front of it, it’s easy to imagine how political fortunes and the city’s atmosphere once intertwined.
