Children Running in Aachen: A Dynamic Bronze Sculpture at St. Josef's Square

In front of the Ost Swimming Hall, you’ll come across *The Running Children*, a fountain from 1973 designed by sculptor Bonifatius Stirnberg. The three bronze figures are holding hands and appear to be running through the water in the midst of play. Their posture evokes moments of carefree childhood that seem to be captured here. The scene feels alive, almost as if you might hear the children’s laughter at any moment. On St. Josef’s Square, the fountain offers a quiet glimpse of the joy of movement and lightheartedness that are often lost in everyday life.
