Möschebrunnen: A small square full of activity
On Münsterplatz, you’ll find the Möschebrunnen, whose name comes from the little sparrows known as “Mösche” in Aachen. The bronze sculpture by artist Bonifatius Stirnberg, created in the 1970s, depicts several sparrows that seem to be playfully interacting with one another. The fountain stands on a site where water sources were already mentioned in the Middle Ages, thus continuing a long tradition of public fountains. Today, the gentle splashing invites you to linger for a moment and watch the figures move. The scene has a cheerful atmosphere and makes the square seem pleasantly quiet despite its central location.
