The relief depicts the two bishops from Maastricht who, according to legend, even after their deaths wanted to set out once more to attend the consecration of what would later become Aachen Cathedral. Their depiction appears serene yet mysterious, as if the path between worlds were just a step away. At the convent of the Sisters of the Poor Child Jesus, the artwork serves as a reminder of how closely faith, storytelling traditions, and the urban landscape are intertwined.
