Aachen Horse Group – a moment full of movement at the main train station

In the square in front of Aachen Central Station, you’ll come across a sculpture that seems to have frozen mid-leap. Created in 1975 by artist Bonifatius Stirnberg, the horse group features five bronze animals whose bodies are tightly intertwined. Standing nearby, you can sense the tension between playfulness and untamed power. The animals look as if they’re about to run off at any moment. Many travelers only notice the group in passing, but if you take a moment to look, the ensemble reveals its own sense of calm. It recalls the centuries-old significance of the horse in the region and lends the station square a lively touch.
