Provost's Church of St. Adalbert
St. Adalbert's Provost Church in Aachen – Over a Thousand Years of Religious History
Nestled among the streets surrounding Kaiserplatz lies a space that has been part of the cityscape for over a millennium. The Provost Church of St. Adalbert was consecrated in 1005 and is considered Aachen’s second-oldest church. Its clean-lined architecture reflects the era in which it was built as the collegiate church of a collegiate foundation. When you step inside, you can sense the layers of many eras that have quietly settled here. In the 1930s, the church was elevated to the status of a provost church, underscoring its special significance in the young Diocese of Aachen. Today, it invites you to pause and discover the long history that rests within its walls.
