The Aachen Fountains – a play of light, water, and steel
North of the Old Kurhaus, you’ll find the Röhrenbrunnen (Tube Fountain), a work by sculptor Heinz Tobolla from 1971. The fountain stands in a small square between Komphausbadstraße and Kurhausstraße. Water flows into the center from numerous stainless steel tubes of varying heights, creating a rhythmic scene that appears different depending on your perspective. The fountain is particularly striking in the evening, when light softly highlights the steel surfaces and makes the water shimmer in delicate lines. The combination of clean lines and the lively play of water makes this spot a peaceful oasis within the urban landscape.
