St. Joseph's Church of the Holy Sepulchre: A Place of Quiet Remembrance
The former parish church of St. Joseph has been a landmark of Aachen’s Ostviertel district since the late 19th century. Built in 1894 according to plans by Franz Langenberg, it was long regarded as the spiritual heart of the neighborhood. Since 2006, the Neo-Gothic building has served as a burial church, offering a unique way to say goodbye, as the interior has been converted into a columbarium. The spacious feel of the room has been preserved, lending the space an atmosphere that combines tranquility and dignity. Visitors experience a space here that makes the community life of the past palpable while also allowing for a modern approach to remembrance and mourning.
