St. Theresa's Church: a serene Rococo space in the student district
St. Theresa’s Church is somewhat tucked away on the edge of Aachen’s student district. From the outside, it features a simple 18th-century façade designed by architect Laurenz Mefferdatis. It is only once inside that the church’s true character is revealed. The Rococo interior was designed by Johann Joseph Couven, whose delicate lines, curved forms, and light ornamentation lend the space a light, almost floating atmosphere. The church is dedicated to Saint Teresa of Avila and feels like a peaceful haven nestled between lecture halls and residential buildings, where silence and artistic design come together in a special way.
