Thermal fountain
Where hot water has been a part of Aachen's history
The thermal springs are among the city’s oldest natural treasures. Since Roman times, people have been using these warm springs, which—with temperatures sometimes exceeding seventy degrees—are among the hottest in Central Europe. Standing around the springs creates a special sense of connection to the past. The water emerges at various points in Aachen and Burtscheid and continues to shape the cityscape to this day. The springs are a quiet reminder of how closely nature and the city have been connected for centuries. When you linger by one of the thermal springs, you can sense some of the power that has drawn earlier generations here.
