New presentation of the medieval department
A permanent exhibition at the Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum
Life, trade, saints. Angels, heavenly and earthly music, the Mother of God through the ages, the veneration of the Christ Child, images and relics as well as the so-called acting image, which had a particularly lively effect through its inclusion in certain rituals, are themes that illustrate the life and thinking of people in the Middle Ages. A church as an important center of medieval town life is also reconstructed. Aspects of economic history are also addressed. An exciting tour introduces visitors to medieval imagery in all its diversity.
