Jakobstrasse
Jakobstraße – A historic path connecting the Old Town, Roman ruins, and a tradition of pilgrimage
Anyone walking along Jakobstraße is following a path that has led people into the city for centuries. As far back as the Middle Ages, it connected key points in the Old Town, winding its way between historic facades, small houses, and the archaeological window, which offers glimpses into earlier eras. Parts of an ancient Roman road have been uncovered here, giving the street a distinct character. It leads all the way to the market and City Hall, where past and present meet. Jakobstraße feels like a silent storyteller, preserving tales of pilgrims, merchants, and travelers.
