Three figures
Three statues at Suermondtplatz
The three cast-iron figures by artist Klaus Schmetz, created in 1988, stand far apart on Suermondtplatz. Their bodies appear frozen, and their gazes do not meet. As you walk past them, you sense a quiet tension that evokes everyday situations in which people coexist without truly encountering one another. The sculpture group invites reflection on closeness, distance, and the unspoken, and remains striking precisely because of its restraint.
