Frittezang Aachen: An Artistic Shelter at the Elisenbrunnen
The Frittezang has stood at the Elisenbrunnen since 1998 and immediately catches the eye with its unusual shape. American architect Peter Eisenmann designed the bus shelter as a modern intervention in the historic surroundings. The people of Aachen gave it its name because its shape resembles an oversized pair of tongs. Today, the Frittezang serves as a small counterpoint to the classical architecture surrounding it and invites visitors to pause for a moment and appreciate the blend of everyday life and art.
