Chicken thief
A chicken was stolen at Aachen's chicken market! Or was it a rooster after all?
The chicken thief is a fountain monument and shows the moment when the boy is caught stealing. Instead of a chicken, he has caught a rooster and when it starts crowing, the theft is noticed. In 1913, the mayor of Aachen at the time, Philipp Veltmann, purchased the figure, made by the sculptor Herrmann Joachim Pagels, at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition.
