New year, new resolutions - January is often used to pause, look back and set new goals. We, the girls from the marketing department, have also thought about personal resolutions that we would like to implement in 2025.
Be inspired by our goals and discover with us how we want to make the new year more mindful, more active and more enjoyable - step by step, moment by moment, always with a touch of Aachen lifestyle.
Time out from everyday life on the Vennbahnweg
As a village child, the forest and fresh air have always been part of my happiness. I need at least half an hour in nature every day to take a deep breath and clear my head - but this is sometimes difficult to combine with my busy everyday life.
My perfect solution, which I discovered in the fall and which I in 2025 would like to continue: cycling to work. Via the Vennbahnweg I can be in the middle of the city and back in just under an hour from the Eifel. On the way: forest, fields, viaducts and tree-lined hollow paths far away from car traffic.
The tranquillity of nature, the wind in your face, the first rays of sunshine in the morning - all this makes this route more than just a commute.

More time for me
What I want from myself in the new year is definitely more "Me-Time". Me consciously time for myself - for body and mind.
While browsing in the Mayersche bookshop there is always something to discover. In a cozy atmosphere I like to read a book there, get inspired in the travel and games department inspired and enjoy a drink in the café on the upper floor. I could spend hours there and forget everything around me for a while!

Learning to appreciate the little things
With the start of a new year, you make space - for new plans, wishes and promises to yourself. This year, however, things are a little different for me. I've been living in Sardinia since November last year and have already experienced many culinary highlights. But the "German potato" in me misses one thing in particular: typical Aachen bakeries.
Yes, I know - it's complaining on a high level, but who doesn't love the smell of freshly baked rolls and bread? Just sit down with a good filter coffee and a sandwich on Münsterplatz or in the Elisengarten and watch people going about their daily lives. Then deciding between Printen and crumble rolls as a little sweet snack afterwards - for me, that's a little luxury that I will definitely treat myself to on my next trip home.
That's why my New Year's resolution is very clear: to appreciate the little things in everyday life, because you only realize that something is missing when it's no longer there.

On foot through everyday life
This year, I have made a firm resolution to get out and about on foot more in our beautiful city.
My daily commute to work is perfect for this: 35 minutes in the morning, 35 minutes in the afternoon - right through Aachen, in all weathers. It's a great way for me to recharge my batteries, clear my head and develop new creative ideas.
My route takes me through some beautiful corners: past the town hall and cathedralover the Katschhof to the Elisenbrunnenand further along the theater along the theater to the beautiful Frankenberg quarter. There is always plenty to discover along the way!
These moments enrich my everyday life and I am happy to experience Aachen in this way again and again.

Out into nature
This year I want more nature, more exercise, more mindfulness. Last summer, I realized how good it feels to take a book and a snack to the city park and enjoy the sunshine. That's exactly the feeling I want to experience again this year.
Until summer returns, I want to integrate regular walks into my routine. These are particularly beautiful on the Lousberg with my part-time dog Moe.
The location of our office makes it easy for me to take my lunch break outside. My daily matcha tastes twice as good when I enjoy it on the steps of the town hall with a view of our beautiful cathedral. In summer, the Elisengarten is my favorite - a green oasis in the middle of the city. And to make sure I don't miss out on my love of books, I like to listen to an audio book.
